Travel to Brno and the MU University Campus

Brno is located in the southeastern part of the Czech Republic, 120 km north of Vienna and some 200 km south east of Prague. Building of CEITEC MU are located within the University Campus Bohunice in the western part of Brno. Brno city map.

 

Airports

Vienna International Airport

Vienna International airport is the closest (about 120 km) large airport for Brno. There are direct bus lines (e.g., Student Agency) connecting the airport and one of the main bus stations at the Grand Hotel in the city centre (a journey time of approx. 2.15 hrs).

Václav Havel Airport Prague

The Prague Airport is the most important international airport in the Czech Republic, some 200 km north west of Brno. Getting from the airport, Brno can be reached by car via the D1 motorway, by bus or train.

Brno Airport

Ryanair connects Brno to London (Standstead) daily, Wizz Air flies to the London Luton airport. In addition, flights are available to Eindhoven, where it is possible to connect to other destinations. Brno Airport is located 7.5 km southeast of the city center. The express city bus line number 76 stops at the terminal and travels to the bus station at the Grand Hotel in the city centre (a journey time of approx. 20 min). Taxis are also available in front of the terminal.

 

Car

Brno can be easily reached from Prague and all neighbouring countries. The University Campus can be reached via the D1 motorway from Prague (210 km) – exit 190 (Brno – Západ) or via the E461 and D1 motorways from Vienna (130 km) - exit 190 (Brno – Západ).

Train

Brno main railway station (“Hlavní nádraží”) is located in the city centre. International trains connect Brno with Prague, Berlin, Vienna and other major cities. Buses 60 and 61 run from Úzká, Soukenická not far from the main station and takes you directly to the University Campus. Taxis are also available in front of the main station building. Bus

Bus connections between Brno and major Czech and European cities are provided by several bus operators. There are two main bus terminals in Brno: the Zvonařka central bus terminal and the terminal at the Grand Hotel (Benešova street). The latter station is used by several domestic and international operators (such as Student Agency, Tourbus, Eurolines). Buses 60, 61 runs from the Zvonařka terminal and from Úzká or Soukenická stop, not far from the Grand Hotel. Both buses take you directly to the University Campus.

Transportation in Brno

The public transport system consists of trams, city buses and trolley buses. Buses operate 24 hours a day. At night there are special night buses. The main railway station (“Hlavní nádraží”) is the central interchange point of all night trams and buses.

Buses 60 and 61 connect the city centre and the University Campus (20 min). Bus 60 runs from the Zvonařka, Úzká and Soukenická stop to the Campus (get off at the stop Universitní kampus or Universitní kampus sever). Bus 61 runs from the Zvonařka, Úzká and Soukenická stop (get off at the Universitní kampus).

Tickets can be purchased in advance at stations and news-stands, at the driver and also by text message.
